This week's Passports collection celebrates a decidedly female art form: the classic ballerina and the dazzling array of tutu-inspired fashion.
The Museum at FIT’s “Ballerina: Fashion’s Modern Muse” exhibit (open through April 18th) presents a most beautiful collection of haute couture inspired by Giselle and Swan Lake. Colors emblematic of ballerinas, such as ballet pink as well as hues popularized by specific ballets such as “Sleeping” blue and lilac from Sleeping Beauty found their way into couturier’s collections over the years, and now into this week’s Passports collection.
Consider ballet-inspired materials such as the tulle you’ll find in our window display and hand-tied bouquets this week as the artful accents to transport you to a world filled with ballerina-inspired couture gowns and voluminous skirts. And as a fashion bonus? The tulle is textile material donated by FabScrap, a textile recycling nonprofit that recovers fabrics from high-end designers in New York City as a sustainable alternative to destruction and discard in landfill.
We're celebrating Ballerina: Fashion’s Modern Muse in sustainable style this week with ballet pink and peach ranunculus and garden roses, lilac.
• Same day orders must be placed before 1pm EST and a $25 delivery charge applies in Manhattan (below 100th Street)
I thought it was over priced for the seven roses, in a small arrangement.
I am really enjoying the beautiful different weekly styles we receive, and knowing that the flowers are getting composted for me when they get returned. My building doesn't compost, so this saves me time and makes me feel better knowing I'm doing the right thing for the environment instead of throwing the flowers in the trash. Thank you!
I wanted to surprise my wife. I placed my order at 10am and by 4pm the flowers were sitting at her desk. Amazing service.
