BROOKLYN, NEW YORK
As soon as they were announced as the 2017 Dream Wedding couple, Elena Delle Donne and Amanda Clifton got to work weaving their commitment to charity and family into their celebration.
They created a registry on TheKnot.com, where family, friends, and fans could donate to the Elena Delle Donne Foundation to benefit two causes significant to the couple: the special needs community and those suffering from Lyme disease. Elena’s sister Lizzie was born deaf and blind, and Elena was diagnosed with Lyme disease nearly a decade ago.
The verdant clusters of southern smilax, hydrangeas, and delphinium and more than 7,000 white roses that decorated the reception were repurposed and donated to a local nursing and rehabilitation center post-party. A week later, after these beautiful blooms had been enjoyed many times over, Repeat Roses recovered all materials for composting and recycling in order to ensure a zero-waste service.
